Self Guided Walk

Free* Sanctuary Entry 9am to 4pm everyday (last entry 3.20pm)

Stroll the boardwalks around the waterways and take a closer look…..freshwater turtles, yabbies, fish, ducks, birds and yes, maybe you will even see the elusive platypus!  Listen to the birds, including the kookaburras, lorikeets, galahs, sulphur crested cockatoos and the rare yellow tailed black cockatoo, as well as the reed-warblers.  Can you hear our native frogs?

Take your time and meander along the designated paths in our beautiful Australian bush and appreciate the 5 different habitats.  Our kangaroos, all rescued and hand-raised, favour the grasslands, while the wallabies prefer the rainforest and scrublands.  The potoroos and bandicoots are also often seen scurrying around the wetlands.  Look up to spot koalas as they sleep in the gum trees, but please at all times respect that Warrawong is a sanctuary and as such there are no enclosures separating you from the animals.  You are walking through their home, so stay on the paths and boardwalks to ensure that Warrawong remains a safe haven for our rare and endangered species.

For the ultimate Warrawong experience, book on one of our nocturnal sunset walks as this is when all our native animals are awake and the sanctuary is alive! Bookings essential, tours depart daily at sunset.  Phone 8370 9197 for bookings and times.  You may also wish to join us for a meal in our Cafe.  Dinners are before the walk during the summer months and after the walk during the winter months.  Dinner/Walk Package available.
