Warrawong
Wildlife Sanctuary was first established in 1969 when dairy land was
revegetated with native trees and shrubs to attract native animals and
birds. In 1982 the 35 acres was enclosed with feral-proof fencing. Once
the fence was completed, the bird population flourished and the
release of many native animals began. Today, Warrawong is home to 100
species of birds and many native mammals, most of which are nocturnal. Warrawong offers a unique
opportunity to get amongst the Australian bush and wildlife in a
protected habitat. This wildlife park in Adelaide is only 20 minutes
from the city, so make a trip to Warrawong, one of your things to do! Warrawong means: water on the side of the hill, so don't expect anything but a good incline to descend and come back up....
Fire Ban Days or Extreme Weather Days
On days of extreme weather or total fire ban days, access to the Sanctuary for self-guided walks ONLY will be restricted.  The airconditioned cafe remains open, animal shows will proceed and the guided night walks will take place. If you are unsure of fire ban status, please call 8370 9197.
